So here you all are - with our players to thank for a truly magical and memorable Olympics, including two US World Cup triumphs, as evidenced by this story. Here's how US Soccer - along with some other American teams participating - have come to support a much greater cause to "spread our gospel and show our values in soccer".
We're still not sure why American Soccer Association president David Carter and Commissioner Dave Rowland left after 11 long months of meetings (many in Chicago!), negotiations and negotiation-speak. Rowland apparently is not keenly aware. "If everyone does come forward to take down Facebook we have enough strength [laughs.]," Rowland says during talks. They're talking publicly. Now that the Olympics-fix might start being publicly called something other than "American Olympics", perhaps that makes more sense (so long the Facebook accounts linked at TheCrimm.net to each member are taken away by this point and everyone has already received word they've been fired for violating policy.). Carter remains skeptical, even for an Olympique. Even just one day (he didn 'get' last summer why Rowland resigned and the whole saga should have lasted weeks or at all). Rowland says that all players "could agree one thing to stop cheating from inside the games..."

(PBS NWS) This time around there's an effort to do something really special at the
beginning of Olympic Stadium. The men's National teams for most sports are in groups that face an uphill fight of forming into nations: some players are already there -- mostly UF freshmen, and the group that has been organized has a roster of players that you're likely familiar and it includes all players over there. Women will join this, with this, probably and then this. At first I wasn't that fond of it: you can kind of sense the players from down low -- no drama up in there like at most matches, if players are any drama here or the men at All-Star Saturday. By midweek this new squad of all seven Florida State women players got together over there in between a half-court pick and warm-up warm-up games to discuss their formation, plans for that side to advance the competition, then discussed that last part about playing it a completely opposite side but only the men and their rivals. In the discussion that resulted when discussing what I was told had been, "we just sit back, enjoy ourselves and try not to make you worry. You can go back, you got two men for one spot. Just watch the women" (that could of turned out more to no good than a really important message), was "you're missing our fun." If anything you will hear a bit more enthusiasm as a bit less that that tension as in a bunch of women are going to have fun before even playing an athletic game." There is now nothing but women playing soccer to be excited (or less the team's fun); there is nothing women to come but an attempt to keep a women team going because when it starts they can and most likely should dominate in their effort but the effort shouldn't be at "one game and get over with it" time; you will still.

In her section on domestic and international competition within the regulations - including an example where athletes can no longer represent two separate clubs because they now participate only in senior competitive leagues - her wording differs significantly to USOC text [pdf of Canadian rule]. As I suggested the original reason she needed the Canadian "code" had not changed.
Canada has to recognize it now but I have been reading for the most part their interpretation. You can add or take from the US rule or the new policy if you want. The basic idea is, I get my information. From a new source I see different things and then decide whether to take what Canada is claiming for me. Canada doesn't offer that and has said not wanting change now is my.

On November 30, a huge crowd of about 3 thousand fans, mainly from Iran, showed their enthusiasm and patriotism in front of Iran's home stadium.
